My 75 Corvette was purchased by my son, Derrin Ruschell, in Nov. 2016. It had sat outside for several years and didn't run. The exterior had barnacles growing on it and a hole in the fiberglass had allowed water into the interior, which was covered in a layer of black grime. In early 2017 Derrin replaced or restored all of the interior. Then the car was taken to Gallant's Automotive in Bel Air, MD to have the engine, transmission, front suspension and brakes rebuilt and have the missing A/C components installed. With new heads and camshaft, the engine now delivers 375 hp. Cody Rodman, Derrin's step-brother, stripped the old paint down to the fiberglass and repaired all cracks and holes. He evened out the gaps between the bumpers and body, and built up the bumpers to improve body line flow. Removable body pieces were all painted separately. The car was sprayed with primer, sanded, then sealer was sprayed onto the primer followed by the Atomic Orange base coat and a high quality clear coat. The car was reassembled, sanded, and buffed to a smooth glass-like appearance. Derrin and I had the opportunity to drive the car from Maryland to Ohio in June 2020. Because of Derrin's ideas, suggestions, and attention to detail throughout this project, I now own a beautiful, comfortable, reliable Corvette that is easy and enjoyable to drive.
